Blackhill Cottage’s location within Perthshire makes a fantastic base for all types of holidays as it is in a part of Scotland that offers everything from stunning scenery and landscapes, culture, history and various outdoor activities for all levels of thrill seekers!
Close to home the nearest village is Bankfoot which has a well stocked convenience store and the Bankfoot Inn which serves a range of food and has an excellent selection of draft ales on tap. For families the one must is a trip to Active Kids Adventure Park in Stanley.
Blackhill Cottage is only 9 miles from the centre of Perth, the Fair City as it is known, which has a range of local and national shops, supermarkets, a theatre, concert hall, cinema, library, ice rink, swimming pool with flumes. Perth is also home to historic Scone Palace which well worth a visit.

Dundee is 45 minutes away and is home to the recently opened V&A museum, RSS Discovery, the ship on which Captain Scott sailed to the Antarctic, Dundee Science Museum, the McManus Gallery and Camperdown Zoo.
St. Andrews with its sandy beaches and famous golf courses is about 1 hour away.

Perthshire is known as Big Tree Country and at the Hermitage near Dunkeld, (20 mins), away you can walk through the firs and pines which are reputed to be among the largest in Britain.
Highland Perthshire with its principle towns of Aberfeldy and Pitlochry offers Scotland in a microcosm with castles, mountains, Lochs Tay, Tummel and Rannoch and of course several Whisky distilleries including Edradour, Aberfeldy and the Glenturret. Speyside with its long list of distilleries is 1.5 hours away.
For those seeking outdoor adventure several operators organise a range of activities including Wee Adventures, Nae Limits, Paddlesurf Scotland. There are lots of trails and road routes in the area for the keen cyclist too. Skiing is available during the winter months along with several summer activities at Glenshee and Cairngorm Mountain.

For the keen Fisherfolk Perthshire offers a multitude of options from the salmon and trout of the world famous River Tay and its tributaries along with many stunning hill lochs full of wild brown trout. There are also a number of stocked trout fisheries in the area.
The Cairngorms National Park starts about 1 hour to the north of Blackhill Cottage. This covers thousands of hectares of Scotlands most beautiful scenery and some of its highest mountains. There are miles of walks, paths and cycle trails for all abilities, watersports, golf, wildlife tours and so much more.
