Blackhill Farm Cottage makes the ideal location for your Scottish Holiday and it offers plenty of activities for all ages and interests.

Indoor

The. cottage is incredibly well equipped with a fully kitted out kitchen, a comfortable sitting area with large sofas and a cosy log burning stove. There is a large TV, digital TV channels and a selection of DVD’s and games. The cottage is also equipped with broadband internet.

Outdoor

Outside the cottage there is an enclosed garden with some lovely flower beds and views across the surrounding fields. There is also a picnic table and bbq for guests to use.

Cycling

The cottage is right beside a 3.5 mile track which is also a cycle path. Either bring your own bike or make use of the selection of bikes which we have available for guests of all sizes to borrow.

Walking

The cottage is right beside a 3.5 mile track which is also a footpath making it ideal for walkers of all abilities. We also can advise on a series of other walks around the farm and surrounding areas which can take you through fields, along the Shochie Burn, (small stream), or into the woodlands.

Wildlife

Blackhill Farm is run in a wildlife friendly way with plenty of habitat provided for lots of birds, insects and mammals. The cottage itself is an annual nesting site for swallows, housemartins and sparrows whilst swifts are regularly seen in the area. The surrounding hedgerows are home to lots of finches, tits and yellowhammers whilst pheasants and partridges live in the surrounding fields.

From the cottage roe and red deer are regularly sighted and the farm is home to a good population of brown hares.

Other sightings include ospreys at the loch, red squirrels and pine martens in the woods and curlews, lapwings and oyster catchers who all nest here in the spring.
